SCAM ALERT: Do Not Pay Callers Who Threaten to Arrest You Unless You Pay
Residents of the Northern District of Georgia continue to receive fraudulent phone calls claiming that the victim failed to appear for jury duty in federal court and/or has an arrest warrant or similar adverse situation. The scammer tells the victim that he or she can avoid arrest or other negative consequences by making a payment, which may include purchasing a pre-paid card—such as a Green Dot card or gift card—and then giving the card number to the scammer. Prohibition on Smart Glasses in the Courthouse
Smart glasses, including those with prescription lenses, are prohibited inside the district courthouse pursuant to Local Rule 83.4. If you require corrective lenses, you must wear contact lenses or bring prescription glasses that do not have audio or video recording capability. Any juror who reports for jury service wearing smart glasses that are needed for the juror to see clearly will be required to leave the courthouse and will be reassigned to a future jury term.
