Court Appoints New Chief Probation Officer

Chief Judge Timothy C. Batten, Sr., announces that the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia has appointed Dr. Donna M. High as Chief United States Probation Officer effective April 2, 2023. Dr. High, a native of White Plains, NY, began her service to the District as a probation officer in January of 2001 and has served as deputy chief U.S. probation officer since 2021. She also has served as assistant deputy chief U.S. probation officer and supervising U.S. probation officer. She began her law enforcement career in 1993 as a parole officer with the Georgia State Board of Pardons and Paroles, where she rose to the rank of chief parole officer. Dr. High has a B.A. in criminal justice from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke, a master’s in public administration from Columbus State University, and a Ph.D. in human services from Walden University.

Dr. High will replace current Chief Probation Officer T. Scott Hudson upon his retirement after more than 28 years of federal service. Mr. Hudson has served as chief since 2016. His career with the District’s probation office began in 1994 after 8 years with the Georgia State Board of Pardons and Paroles. He also has served as deputy chief U.S. probation officer, assistant deputy chief U.S. probation officer, supervising U.S. probation officer, and a presentence investigator specialist. He frequently trains other probation officers. 

The Court thanks Mr. Hudson for his many years of dedicated service and welcomes Dr. High to her new position.
